4th ANZPAC Workshop on Biofouling Management for Sustainable Shipping

View the ANZPAC 2019 Sponsorship opportunities here.

Melbourne Conference & Exhibition Centre, Melbourne, Australia. 1-4 October 2019.

The objective of this workshop is to identify, promote and develop effective and practical biofouling management strategies that will ensure shipping and other maritime industries can continue to underpin trade, security and economic development with minimal environmental impact. The inaugural ANZPAC Workshop on Biofouling Management for Sustainable Shipping in 2013 was an outstanding international event that brought industry together with scientists and regulators, and this success was repeated with a second and third workshop in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

This year, the Workshop will also be held conjointly with the 1st GEF-UNDP-IMO GloFouling Research & Development Forum on Biofouling Management. The Glofouling Project has been initiated to drive actions to implement the IMO Guidelines for the control and management of ships' biofouling, which provide a globally-consistent approach on how biofouling should be controlled and managed to minimise the transfer of invasive aquatic species through ships' hulls. The project will also spur the development of best practices and standards for improved biofouling management in other ocean industries.

The financial support of companies and organisations with interest and investment in ship biofouling management is sought to help repeat previous successes and achieve the workshop aim of guiding the future landscape for biofouling management and optimal vessel efficiency, practical regulatory management, and scientific advances in biofouling control for shipping. The workshops are organised as not-for-profit events, and sponsorship money is directed to providing travel support for invited speakers.
